The University of Nevada, Reno was established as Nevada’s Land Grant Institution in 1874. The current enrollment is over 16,000 students with more than one-fourth of these students pursuing graduate degrees. Clinical and translational research topics appropriate for Pilot Grant and core support described in this proposal include diabetes / obesity, health effects of volcanic air pollution and atomic testing, tobacco usage and second hand smoke (especially in casinos), cancer, colon cancer screening, detection of myocardial ischemia, cardiovascular risk factors, quality issues in acute care hospitals, and trauma.
