About the Mountain West CTR-IN Program

We help researchers secure ongoing, sustainable, extramural funding.

Intro to MW CTR-IN

Mountain West IDeA Clinical & Translational Research Infrastructure Network

The Mountain West Clinical & Translational Research Infrastructure Network (MW CTR-IN) Program is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Program that began on September 15, 2013 with an initial cycle that ran through June 30th, 2018.

Designed to expand the health research network capability of the 13 universities across 7 IDeA states with a focus on improving the health of the Mountain West Region’s diverse residents, the MW CTR-IN Program has received a five-year $20.3 million grant renewal from the NIH to continue funding through 2023.

Our Mission

Build and Enhance Infrastructure Capacity to Increase Clinical & Translational Research in the Mountain West Region

Speed

To accelerate the development of research capacity.

Increase

To increase the quantity and quality of successful NIH & other grant applications in clinical and translational research.

Health

To accelerate scientific discovery to improve the health of the residents of the 7 Mountain West IDeA States Region.

A CONNECTED NETWORK

From Bench to Community

MW CTR-IN is all about making connections. Connecting investigators to mentors, collaborators, and biostatisticians. Connecting research to funding opportunities. Connecting universities to communities. Over mountains and across oceans, MW CTR-IN is a connected network of researchers working together to improve the health and lives of people in all of our MW communities.

Our Partner INSTITUTIONS

US Map of CTR-IN Partners
The MW CTR-IN Program encourages partnerships between institutions with limited expertise and infrastructure for clinical & translational research and established clinical & translational centers, including institutions with Clinical & Translational Science Awards (CTSAs) and Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMIs). We are fortunate to have both a CTSA and an RCMI partner lending their expertise.

The MW CTR-IN Program is hosted at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Considered as the largest Clinical & Translational Research Program in the U.S., the MW CTR-IN initially represented a partnership among 13 major U.S. public universities across 7 Mountain West IDeA States and stretched across one-third of the U.S. land mass & encompassed almost one-third of all IDeA States. MW CTR-IN currently serves 6 institutions across 4 IDeA states.
